Wife Left Him Days Before: Matthew Livelsberger and the Cybertruck Incident
Matthew Livelsberger, the man who detonated a Tesla Cybertruck in front of a Trump hotel in Las Vegas, was reportedly abandoned by his wife just days before the incident.
The New York Post reported on Thursday evening, citing “two sources familiar with the investigation,” that Livelsberger left his Colorado Springs home on December 26 following an argument with his wife over infidelity.
According to the Post, Livelsberger’s wife — with whom he had a baby daughter — reportedly told him that she was aware of his cheating.
This development has led investigators to consider that the 37-year-old Green Beret might have harbored private suicidal tendencies.
In the immediate aftermath of the explosion on Wednesday, it was initially suspected that the act could have been a terrorist attack or a political statement against President-elect Donald Trump and/or Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Sheriff Kevin McMahill said shortly after the incident:
“This is a Tesla truck, and we know that Elon Musk is working with President-elect Trump, and it’s the Trump Tower. So, there are obviously things to be concerned about, and it’s something we continue to look at.”
After leaving Colorado, Livelsberger used the Turo app to rent a Cybertruck, which he parked outside the Trump International Hotel on New Year’s morning. He then set off mortar fireworks stashed in the trunk and fatally shot himself.
